Moses and the Burning Bush

 Summary:

The story of Moses and the Burning Bush is found in Exodus 3:1–15 (with the call narrative continuing through Exodus 4:17).

While tending sheep in the wilderness near Mount Horeb, Moses sees a bush that is on fire but is not consumed. When he approaches, God calls to him from the bush and reveals that He has seen the suffering of the Israelites in Egypt and intends to deliver them. God then gives Moses what seems like an impossible task: return to Egypt, confront Pharaoh, and lead the Israelites out of slavery. Moses immediately objects, questioning his qualifications and ability, but God responds with the promise, “I will be with you” (Exodus 3:12).

The story is ultimately not about Moses’ strength or leadership skills, but about God empowering an ordinary and reluctant person to accomplish an extraordinary mission through divine presence and guidance.
