Susie was born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana, with an older brother and a younger sister
and brother.
At the age of 12, she attended an auto race with her dad and was bitten by the racing
bug. For the next 11 years, she spent the weekends of each summer traveling with her
dad on the USAC midget circuit, helping with the timing and scoring. Racing gave her
opportunities to travel all over the USA and meet many people.
Susie graduated from high school with majors in business and music, both of which have
moved with her through life. Singing in church choirs, and being a bookkeeper and
business manager for her dad for 5 years, until she married. Then she held other
bookkeeping/business jobs until 1977, when a move to Arizona gave her the opportunity
to begin a career in banking. In addition to Arizona, her banking career took her to Ohio
and Indiana and lasted 35 years, with retirement in 2013 as a Municipal Bond
Administrator.
Upon retirement, Susie returned to Arizona, settling in Mesa. She started attending
Desert Chapel UMC in 2016 and became a member in 2018. Through encouragement
from Pastors and others, Susie began singing in the choir, being a Communion Steward,
Liturgist, and then Worship Leader, Choir Director, and the Congregational Care team
leader.
In her spare time, Susie enjoys reading, attending Bible studies, and walking with her dog
Max and traveling.
